General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, there can be various reasons for the dark stool with mushy yellow stool as:
- GI infection with some sort of invasive bacteria like Shigella or others
- Intolerance to soy milk or other food stuffs
- Rectal polyp (usually bright red blood without mushy yellow)
- GI flora upset
- Ova or eggs of parasites
- Malabsorption disorders

Still, one time stool microscopy is must for the precise microbiological diagnosis and cure accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
