Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes, my daughter is a year old and has been experiencing hard dark stool with mushy yellow stool for sometime now. She has been on soy milk since she was 2 months. She also has to eat pears and drink pear juice with her meals, doctors orders. I have recently found seen blood in her stool. Can you please her me?
As per my clinical experience, there can be various reasons for the dark stool with mushy yellow stool as: - GI infection with some sort of invasive bacteria like Shigella or others - Intolerance to soy milk or other food stuffs - Rectal polyp (usually bright red blood without mushy yellow) - GI flora upset - Ova or eggs of parasites - Malabsorption disorders
Still, one time stool microscopy is must for the precise microbiological diagnosis and cure accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
