What Causes Blood In Stool With Diarrhea?

I am a 42 year old female with some soft stool/diarreha for the past few days. I noticed yesterday that i have bright red blood floating in the toilet, in my stool and small blood clots. It is not as I wipe...like hemorrhoids... but on and in the stool itself.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Your symptoms could be due to internal piles, inflammatory bowel disease/proctatitis, gastroenteritis, polyp.
I would suggest to consult gastroenterologist and undergo rectal examination, routine blood tests like CBC, ESR, CRP, stool tests, fecal calprotectin, USG scan, sigmoidoscopy if needed
Specific treatment depend on cause.
Antibiotic like ofloxacin and ornidazole will help to cure infection
Steroid and meselazine will help to treat inflammatory bowel disease
Take plenty of warm water and take soft & home made food
Take diet like banana, applesauce, rice and toast
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
