What Causes Blood In Stool?
Hi. My girlfriend has blood in her stool. Has had for a few weeks. She refuses to see a doctor about it, and thinks she can correct it with diet. says stress related. We just had a big external stressor in our life...and her symptoms are worse. her poops are diarrhea.... What to do??

Hi! blood in stool or in medical terms 'hematochezia' is a real thing to worry about and we must think about some simple and some serious conditions in such cases as follows:
1. infections like dysentery, shigella / bacillary infections
2. inflammatory bowel diseases
3. rectal / colonic polyps
4. piles
5. fissure
6. worms
7. angiodysplasia, diverticulum etc
8. injury
9. cancer
Therefore a stool examination is must even before seeing a doctor and she might need further tests like colonoscopy if needed...!
