What Causes Blood In The Urine?

I peed twice since i got home from work. There was visible blood (a little) in the toilet water and some on the bowl. The second time there was a very small bit mixed in (not enough to appear red or orange mixed with the urine). This only happens when I am sitting. What could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are a number of causes for blood in the urine. It ranges from infections to stones in the ureter or bladder or problems with the kidney. It is pretty easy to get evaluated. Get a urine microscopy done. Besides this ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis. Do not worry too much about it as you have had only two episodes of the same. Do increase your consumption of water in the time being.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
