What Causes Blood In Urine After Controlling Urine?

Last Saturday I was about to urinate on myself... to keep from peeing on myself and the carpet, I clamped my urethra closed and made to toilet as I felt my urine backing up. My urine had blood in it... it remained bloody for my next few urinations, but had stopped over the next 5 days. Late afternoon today I had to urinate again, but held it until I could drive home... again it was bloody as of yet I m still getting spotting as of 10:00 PM this evening. On both occasions the initial urination was quite painful, especially my side and lower back, but seem to dissipate somewhat afterward. The Urgent Care Physician is sending off my urine specimen for final diagnosis and also prescribed Ciprofloxacin HCL 500MG twice daily after the second occurrence today. The question is: I am needed to help move some furniture tomorrow for my 85 year old Uncle, who is being moved into an Assisted Living home tomorrow. Should I attempt any heavy lifting due to my potential infection or could I aggravate the problem by doing so?

Diabetologist 's  Response
Hello,

It appears that you have urinary tract infection. Therefore, taking Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day for next 14 days is essential. Plus also increase the daily water intake to reduce irritation. As regards the lifting or moving heavy furniture, that is unlikely to aggravate the UTI . However, please look at your overall fitness and do that additional physical work.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
