What Causes Blood In Urine, Frequent Urination And Elevated Pulse Rate?
I am 83 years of age, I urinate frequently at night during bed time. I had my urine checked and the nurse said I have quite a kit of blood in my urine, I have been extremely tired and go to a PT for exercise daily and when I use the stationary bike, my pulse rate goes up to 140. I am currently waiting for my blood test results. what should I suspect?
Frequent urination with blood in urine needs proper evaluation. You have already done some blood tests, but you will need to have a check of your prostate with rectal examination or ultrasound as well. If the prostate is normal and not the cause of your symptoms you will need to do a retrograde cystoscopy of the urinary system to identify the source of the blood.
As for the pulse, it is normal it goes to 140/min if you are exercising, especially if you do not get chest pains or shortness of breath. If you any of these complaints you will need a check of your heart.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
