What Causes Blood In Urine While Catheterizing After Bladder Relaxation Through Botox Injection?

Hello, yes I have a question. My wife recently had a a botox injection to her urinary bladder to help relax it. The doctor spoke to me after the procedure and said that I should expect bloody urine in the beginning but not to be alarmed. He said it would clear up in a few days. Why am I still seeing dark red blood when I catheterize her?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Dark red blood while catheterizing the bladder could be due to trauma to the urinary tract.
Bleeding is expected after the procedure.
Dark red blood suggests that bleeding has already taken place in the urinary tract.
If the bleeding is in excess and for prolonged period, you may need to consult your treating surgeon for clinical assessment, to find out the cause of bleeding and thus management.

Thanks and take care
