What Causes Blood In Urine While Having Kidney Stones?

hello, I have a history of kidney stones and 2 days ago I noticed blood in my urine when I woke up. No pain was present at that time but since yesterday I have pain on my lower back which subsided over night.. This morning the same pain came back and I also have an urge to pass stool but nothing comes out. I just went to the bathroom urinate and again noticed blood on my unrine. Am I still trying to pass a stone?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Blood in urine can come from the kidneys. But there are many causes of blood in urine or haematuria. Blood can come in urine due to kidney stone, urinary tract infection, cystititis or bladder infection, urethritis, prostatomegaly, bladder cancer, kidney cancer and some gynecological problem if you are a female.

But if you have kidney stone and diagnosed before 2 days then tell where is this situated and size of stone so that we could guess why the urine has came in your urine? A stone may cause pain if it comes and blocks the flow of urine. Pain only occurs when obstruction occurs, in which urine cannot pass properly or pain occurs due to pressure over kidney or bladder. Bleeding may be due to stone is being passing.and due to this the pain occurs over loin region, lower abdomen and in to the groin area, large stones in the kidney may cause very slight bleeding in urea.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ankur
