Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just saw what I think is blood in my urine. I am a 70 yr old male, and have been taking Flomax for 4 1/2 weeks. I just had something with flu like symptoms ending 2 days ago. I have had slight headaches but no bloodpressure problems since starting the Flomax. What causes blood in urine? Could it be side effects from flu or flomax?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Flomax is an alpha-blocker that relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate in people with benign prostatic hyperplasia.Blood in urine is not a side effect of this drug.Your symptom could be caused by: -UTI -Poor evolution of prostate problem/complication -kidney/prostate Cancer -Strenuous exercise I will suggest you see the Doctor for examination.Tests like urinalysis and PSA may be helpful and if need be, your Doctor may request for a prostatic/kiney ultrasound or simply a CT scan of abdomen.I will advise you take enough fluids if no urinary obstruction signs. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
