Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yesterday around noon I urinated and it was very bright red. This was the first time this has ever happened. Shortly thereafter I went to Urgent Care where they were unable to run a test on the urine due to excess blood and sent me to the ER at our local hospital. There I had a CAT scan which indicated an enlarged prostate and blood tests showed no infection. A complete blood panel which I had in September (8 months ago) showed a PSA number 7.95 and previously in 2011 it was 3.8. I have NO PAIN with urination and now 30 hours since the first time I noticed this it is still bright red and not easing up. I do not have urgency nor is it difficult to urinate. 24 hours prior to the first time I noticed the blood I had a stronger than usual orgasm and am wondering if this could explain the blood. Could I simply have a broken blood vessel?

What Causes Blood In Urine?
Hello, The blood together with PSA can tell about prostate cancer. A biopsy needs to be done before to confirm the diagnosis. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
