Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Blood Spots Under The Skin Of Forearm?
I recently developed some apparent blood contusions or spots under the skin on my forearm. I am 64 and I ve spent a considerable amount of time in and out of the hospital or rehab for a variety of unexpected problems: bleeding ulcer that put me into a coma for a couple of months, bone infection in my foot that resulted in a partial, et cetera. I am otherwise healthy - a former athlete of considerable success. My own layman s guess is that I am suffering from a deficiency of B12, C and probably other vitamins as a result of too much time spent inside and inactive. Make sense?
Bloodspots under the skin is commonly indicative of Purpura. You are suggested to get clinically assessed by a GP or a dermatologist to find out whether it is senile purpura or drug induced thrombocytic purpura(as you have history of past illness). Get treated at the earliest.
In the meantime you can take citrus bioflavonoids to get better. Take nutritious home made food. Stay well hydrated, avoid addictions if any. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected & sevrity of your clinical condition.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K
