Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Bloody Bowel Movement Along With Fatigue And Appetite Loss?
My daughter,21,has repeated soft bloody stools, some fatigue and some loss of appetite. Otherwise no fever or anything. She is not sexually active, but a roommate just had the regular flu not stomach flu. No change in diet, period was done 2 weeks ago, but does take iron for suspected mild anemia not actually diagnosed. Also, no use of NSAIDs, not black.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Bloody stools along with loss of appetite can be due to stomach flu. I would advise you to get her seen by a physician as she needs proper assessment. He may advise a few blood tests to diagnose her condition.
If the fluid loss is excessive, then she may need IV hydration. Meanwhile, she should continue taking oral rehydration therapy to prevent dehydration. If the stomach flu is ruled out, then she may need to get a colonoscopy done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma.Amman
