My husband last Sunday had out of control diarrhea for three days with it being bloody once or twice then it went away then this Sunday it started again on both Saturdays we were at the baseball field all day and he most likely was dehydrated both Saturdays. He is type two diabetic. what could be the cause of this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Bloody diarrhea is almost always due to a bacterial infection. Antibiotics such as Ciprofloxacin and anti-protozoal such as Tinidazole will have to be given.
So it will be better to see a primary care physician nearby who may investigate before starting the treatment.

I hope it helps!
Please feel free to ask more questions.
