What Causes Bloody Vaginal Discharge?

Yes, please. I keep having vaginal discharge, as well as what appears to be old menstrual blood. I m in between periods. And now I have a small cold. Just nose stuffiness. I live in Florida and can t remember the last time I had a cold, so perhaps it is related?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The cold and the vaginal discharge are generally two different things and not related. The irregular vaginal bleeding may be caused by different causes and you will need to have a gynecological examination and also pap smear and tests to rule out sexually transmitted diseases like chlamydia and gonorrhea (if you think you are at risk- having random or new partner). If all these come out normal, then a vaginal ultrasound would be advisable as well.
