What Causes Blue-black Colored Toes?

The toes on my right foot have turned to a blue-black color. They are not really painful, but are somewhat swollen. I am on Plavix and do bruise easily, but I ve never had bruising in that area. I also have a small knot on the top of that same foot that is sore to the touch.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* The risk of vascular complications are high when you are on
antiplatelet or other blood thinner agents as Clopidrogel ( Plavix ).

The blue black toe indicate compromised blood circulation though proximal blockage via micro thrombi or else.

Immediately report to an ER for evaluation of peripheral pulsations examination and emergency doppler report of the lower limb territories.

Hope you get well soon.

Thanks.
