What Causes Blue Discoloration On The Lips While Suffering From Diabetes?

My lips are blue. I am a diabetic on medication and my diabetes is controlled with my last A1C being 5.9 three months ago. I was just sitting at home and happened to look in the mirror and noticed my lips were blue. I am 56 years old. Should I be concerned

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of blue discoloration on the lips while suffering from diabetes which seems to be due to chances of frequent infection and due to neuropathy.

I would suggest you to consult oral physician for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically and you should go for nerve conduction study of the face. Till then maintain proper oral hygiene. Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. Take diet rich in multivitamins.
