What Causes Blurred And Double Vision While On Steroids?

i am an ocular mg patient. I also have COPD and osteoporosis (cause by on and off use of steroids for the past 7 years. I was diagnosed with OMG last October and started a regimen of steroids and Mestinon in March. I am up to 50 mgs every other day. Nothing has worked. I still have double vision and my left eye is so blurry this week I can t see anything clearly. I am afraid that this medicine is not the answer to my problem. I want to ask the doctor to discontinue. If I do will that change my OMG?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Steroids can sometimes cause cataracts or glaucoma or worsen these conditions if they are already present.
Some steroid-caused blurred vision may be temporary and not serious.
I suggest you a visit to an ophthalmologist.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
