What Causes Blurred Vision And Eye Pain While Suffering From Stomach Virus?

I ve had a stomach virus for the last 3 days. Severe chills, aches, diarrhea, fever. My vision started to blur as I could barely open my eyes to function. 2 days ago my fever spiked to 104.4 on a temporal thermometer. My vision isn t exactly blurred but doesn t focus quickly and my right eye is very sore to move like the muscle is strained. I had a low grade fever yesterday with the same symptoms but making progress, no fever today but will cramp before a bowel movement. While napping today I noticed an increased heart rate. Do I need to be seen about that and my sore eye? Anything I need to be concerned about? I m a 37yr old white female.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Presence of fever, chills, body aches, and diarrhea indicates acute gastro enteritis/food poisoning. Feeling dizzy with blurring of vision and increased heart rate in such cases indicates dehydration. Since it is already 3 days and there is dehydration, this needs immediate medical attention to avoid complication like sepsis and hypotension. This needs rehydration antibiotic treatment- kindly rush to emergency. Meanwhile, drink ORS solution as much you can in small frequent sips, and take paracetamol for fever and abdominal cramps.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK, Pediatrician
