Hello,
Various differential diagnoses of your symptoms are the following:

2) Retinal
artery or vein occlusion
3) Intra ocular tumors
4) Diabetic retinopathy
5) Retinopathy of prematurity
6) Leukemia
7)
Iris or ciliary body melanoma
8) Acute congestive glaucoma
The following is a brief list of causes of red and painful eye with loss of vision:
1 ) Leading cause in young patients is trauma
2)
Retinal tear, detachment
3) Terson syndrome due to increase in pressure in brain, it gets transmitted to eye
4) Macro-aneurysms
The following work up is necessary to trace out the cause and prevent recurrence:
1) Entire eye examination including with dilator drops, slit lamp examination,
ultrasound B scan
2)
MRI or CT eye and brain to evaluate for tumors and any circulation disturbances
In 2-7.6% of cases, the cause is non specific. I would suggest you to see a retina specialist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
