What Causes Blurry Vision And Numbness In Left Hand And Foot?
My husband is 71 and two times has suffered blurry vision, tightening of all facial and scalp skin, numbness in left hand and foot. Today I took him the the local E R and after tests were completed no sign of stroke, but could he have had small strokes T I A s that did not elevate his heart enzymes.
You are right in thinking that this could be a neurological problem. TIA or a transient ischemic attack is a possibility, especially if he has any comorbidities like diabetes and hypertension.
The cause of the TIA can either be an athermatous plaque or a small clot which has dislodged from the heart due to irregular heart beats.
Blood tests like cardiac enzymes may not be totally helpful in this situation. I would suggest an MRI of the brain as well as an MR angiogram of the cerebral blood vessels to look for any narrowing due to atherosclerosis. A cardiac evaluation is also necessary to rule out any heart condition which may indirectly be giving rise to these symptoms.
Hope this helps.
