Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Body Ache And Fatigue After Taking Synthroid?
I have been diagnosed with under active thyroid and prescribed Levothyroxine. Two weeks ago I went to get a refill and I found my insurance would only cover Synthroid. I started taking Synthroid and within a few days I noticed my body was aching, fatigue, basically the same symptoms I had before being diagnosed. I spoke with my pharmacist and decided to go back to Levothyroxine. Question: would a patient necessarily notice a difference between Synthroid and Levothyroxine as I did? Why would this happen?
The reason for your body ache and fatigue would be: 1. A lack of adequate dosage of the drug. 2. The drug interactions with your salts in food or even with salts in your toothpaste.
So we advise patients to take Synthroid in ideal conditions early morning with empty stomach even before brushing teeth.
Your body ache and fatigue will go away if your body receives adequate dosage of drug.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
