What Causes Body Ache, Dizziness And Nausea?

I have been to the doctor I cannot tell you how many times over a course of years for the same thing... still no answer as to why I have body ache and feel dizzy and nauseous for a series of days and then feel great. I have had labs done for lupus, thyroid, anemia, and myalgias. What else could be my problem? It is interfering with my life to the point I am getting severely depressed. Never was I depressed until I had these horrible symptoms to the point I have more bad days than good. I need help!!

Hi,

There can be many causes of vertigo. Good, you have got some many investigations done already. It will make the diagnosis easy.

See we need to have a detailed history and clinical examination for that. One of the most common causes is diseases associated with ear like labyrinthitis (infection of the ear), vestibular neuritis (inflammation of the nerves), or BPPV (benign positional vertigo).

It can also be related to diseases of the brain (infection or swelling) or heart disorders (arrhythmia- rhythm disturbances) or cervical spondylosis (neck posture-related issues).

Besides this, there are simpler causes like anemia (low hemoglobin), hypoglycemia (low sugar), prolonged fasting, excessive heat, stress, anxiety or lack of proper sleep. Hence, I feel, first of all, focus on lifestyle modifications.

Have a well-balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables and less tea and coffee. Maintain proper posture while working and sleeping, take good sleep for 7-8 hours, do some meditation, or go out for a walk.

Do not be depressed or tense about it. If still the symptoms persist then do go for some investigations like- sugar levels, electrolytes, ECG, X-ray cervical spine and MRI brain. If possible go for ENT examination also. This will help us to make a proper diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Milinda Gupta
