What Causes Body Aches And Fatigue In An Elderly Person?

Hello, my mother is 80 and somewhat suddenly been experiencing body aches, knee & wrist pain and fatigue. She has had the body aches for a few months, and the knee/wrist pain for a month or so. She has a bit of arthritis in her hands, but can barely lift a glass since these aches have started. Her knee and foot are swollen, also. She has had unexplained hives on and off for a few years. Her doctor had her taking Prilosec and Zyrtec for it. She used to take Fosomax, but hasn't in at least 5 years. Any idea what is going on? Her doctor isn't very helpful. Thanks for your time.

Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
As age advances.. all body activities tend to slow down.Because of less nutrition( eating/ digestion) leading to nutritional deficiencies & some or other health problem... the physical / psychological ability goes down ( vice a versa)..leading to total lethargy.
A nutritious diet ( proteins, vitamins & minerals with carbohydrates as per energy requirement -taken in small multiple servings ( 3-4 hourly)/light regular exercise( walking ) & mind concentrating exercises/ an occupation that matches physical ability needful medical treatment & regular health check ups/love & care by family & enthusiastic friend circle are basic needs of an elderly person to keep her physically & morally boosted up.
* Your Mother has a bit of arthritis ... which is not given any attention( Medications she is taking are for controlling acidity & allergy ) - The fosomax indicated for preventing bone weakness has been stopped.. which is needful at her age.( may be that is why the body ache & increased joint symptoms.
* So in addition to the needs briefed in beginning.. she needs a through health check up for over all health by a physician with needful investigations & by an orthopedic doctor's advise for her joint problem ( Medicines & physiotherapy ).
Thanks
