What Causes Body Pain And Heavy-headedness After Taking Thyronorm For Hypothyroidism?

My wife has been prescribed to take Thyronorm 25 mcg for treatment of hypothyroidism. After taking the medication she is feeling heaviness of head (back side of head), body pain (like before getting fever) & also tiredness. The medication was started after blood test showed the following values ( T3 - 0.91, T4 - 5.8, TSH 5.49 ). The reason to do blood test of due to sudden increase of hair loss. Kindly advice to continue taking the medication OR stop taking medication, as its not necessary OR take an alternate medication for treatment of hypothyroidism.

Hi,

Thyronorm is appropriate treatment for these levels of TSH, it can be started 12.5 mg in starting and then 2-4 weeks later go to higher doses [this is also option], but if symptoms remain after this , they may have to go to higher doses [test can be repeated after 30 days with free t4 levels and TSH, T3 anti-globin also]. USG of thyroid gland can be done to rule out few things.

Diet should avoid goitrogens like cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, spinach, junk foods, caffeine, alcohol, smoking eat well cooked [steamed is good] vegetables, lots of fruits, salads, 8-10 glasses of water, all diary products can be taken [mindful eating] 7-8 hrs sleep [vitamin 12 should be taken for few days]. Join her this online art of living breathing workshop along with medicines [sukshm yoga and these techniques easily reverse symptoms seen in hypothyroid patients [ombw or online happiness course].

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
