Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter has been experiencing hives and intermittent chest pain since yesterday afternoon. Took her to Dr. today, Strep test negative, remedy recommended is Benedryl or allergy pill and wash laundry with perfume free soaps, etc. This evening, the Hives are worse, some places they look like welts, and her lip is swelling. She is not on any medication, has not eaten anything new, no new lotions, makeup, etc. We are worried and have no idea what is causing. She is bathing in baking soda water.
*did your daughter have any recent infections? *does she have any fever or breathing difficulty? *does she have any other medical issues?
Based on her symptoms I would like to rule out angioedema and endocarditis. Any chest pain must be immediately investigated.
I recommend : -an internist consult and a cardiologist consult -electrocardiogram and echocardiogram - blood tests (complete blood count, Thyroid stimulating hormone, lipid profile, blood glucose panel, kidney and liver function tests) -she will probably need steroids to control the inflammatory reaction. Please take her to the doctor for a thorough work up. If she develops any breathing difficulty, worsening chest pain, dizziness, take her to the ER right away.
Hope this helps. Pls let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Wish you both good health.
