What Causes Body Tremors, Blackouts And Memory Loss?

My nephew is 37. He has taken seizures in the past. He was good for several months. He was on Dylantin and is not on any medication for months. He now has the shakes, has been having blackouts and loss of memory. As a kid it was nothing for him to fall down the steps or hit a pole while riding a bike. We put it off as him being clumsy but the older he gets, I feel he has been having black outs since a kid. He had learning issues. He never had a good memory. He has a severe headache for 4 days now. We can not be seen by a neurologist until March 30th. An ER Dr. thinks it is acute stress reaction. HIs mom passed away at the young age of 56-she was diagnosed with Paraneoplastic syndrome at the age of 52. Can you help??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If symptoms persist, better to consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI brain to rule out possible intracranial (inside the brain) causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
