Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a friend that is transgender (male to female) 65 years old and has body tremors, can t hold her head up. When she walks (with a cane), she will freeze mid step, with her leg up and then the leg will come down. She said she has to look down when she walks. She also looks down when eating her meal. She also has hand tremors. She was given a drug used by Parkinson s patients but it has nt worked. Any thoughts?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your symptoms, I feel the diagnosis is progressive supra nuclear gaze palsy. It is a variant of Parkinson’s disease and so your medication need to be changed or dose modified by your neurologist if you are taking medication since long time otherwise for improvement to occur it may take nearly three months.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
