Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Bone Spur After Knee Replacement Surgery?
How common are bone spurs in a TKR? I had TKR 2 years ago. Developed a bone spur of the edge of m patella 14 months after TKR. Had spur surgically removed and know have another spur. I m having difficulty finding information on bone spurs after TKR. Any advice or suggestions?
As per my clinical experience, the total knee replacement surgery is not associated with bone spur formation in usual cases. The bone spur type feeling, might be related to: - Chronic hematoma following surgery - Soft tissue lesion as sebaceous cyst - Lipoma or dermoid cyst (less likely) - Synovial sheath problems
A clinial examination is must before commenting for the same or you can send a photo image of the lesion during planned follow up chat with me.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
