What Causes Bony Bump On The Back Of Head?

There s a bony bump on the back of my head that s dead center and slightly above where my neck starts after my skull. I ve had it for years and it doesn t have any sensation or noticeability unless you touch it. I don t think it s serious because online people say it s likely a small benign cist that can be removed and I have had it for several years but I don t know for sure. Also, I don t know if it perhaps it has some correlation to my short height? (5 6 at 20years) What is it?

Hello,

I recommend you to do an ultrasound of that area or more specific a MRI of the head. After having the result, you will have the right answer and will decide what to do further. Please discuss with your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
