Hi, 2 years ago I saw something shiny inside my left nostril. I got scared and went to a doctor. She said it was my inferior nasal concha and nothing more w that. But now I just discovered that I can see it on my right side too. It wasnt there before. The doctor I went to 2 years ago said she had never seen this before in her medical career. I just wonder if it is abnormal and any danger to have both your inferior nasal conchas visible in the nose? (I dont have a cold)
Hi,it is normal that inferior nasal concha are visible inside nose.
Concha are bony structures inside your nose covered by mucous membranes. The mucous membrane that covers the concha can shrink or swell in response to changes in blood flow. Things that alter blood flow such as lying down, certain foods, allergies, medications, hormones, and infections can affect blood flow and therefore cause swelling of the concha. Out of the three concha-superior,middle and inferior, inferior nasal concha are the most common to be visible inside nasal cavity.
