What Causes Bowel Obstruction After A Prostate Surgery?
After prostate surgery bowel function disrupted. Causing small diameter stool 1/2 inch diameter and very straining to even pass that. My cancer surgery was Nov. 2016 and still having same problem. In past never had bowel problem. Doctor prescribed stool softener daily still no change even passing the softer stool. I think possible obstruction from surgery

As per my surgical experience, the bowel obstruction can be possible after open prostate surgery due to intestine adhesion issues.
If laser surgery is performed, intestine obstruction can be a secondary event of a dynamic obstruction from fluid electrolyte imbalance or other issues.
If the case was of cancer of prostate, intestine metastasis, narrowing or else should be the prime suspicious lesion.
