What Causes Brain Freeze And Shooting Pain In Ears?

I cannot drink anything cold. If I do I experience severe throat pain and sometimes shooting pain in my ears. The pain is best described to be like a brain freeze you get when drinking an icee. New symptom during cold weather - the cold air caused the exact same sensation. Saw my ENT doctor who says he has never geard of aything like that and just suggested I stay away from cold items.
