Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am been having breakthrough bleeding for well over a year now. I had my son in 2012 and this have never been the same. I bleed every time I have sex just abiut and will have brown blood and tissue discharge for a week or so before I start my period. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about a year. I had a dnc in December and they found polyps and fibroids, but they cleared that. What else could cause this and how can I get pregnant?
All cause of hormonal imbalance should be ruled out. Pelvic ultrasound should be repeated to see any new fibroids and polyps are present. Ovarian cysts should also be ruled out. Follicular study should be done to know whether ovulation is occurring or not and pregnancy should be planned accordingly. Hypothyroidism can also cause irregular bleeding or bleeding between periods. Hence, TSH, Free T3, T4 levels should be measured.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
