What Causes Breathing Difficulties With Throat Pain And Dysphagia?

Hi, I am currently having difficulties breathing, and severe pain in lower throat when swallowing and talking. No fever, but the breathing problem sometimes keeps me awake at night. I saw a doctor 3 times and told me it was acid reflux, but after 3 different ppis, there has been not much relief. I had an endoscopy less than 2 years ago and he barely saw just a little inflammation from heartburn. Im now being treated for bronchitis but my doctor isnt convinced that is the cause. I took a pulmonary function test today and it was low, but everything else is normal. What do you think this could be? I am only 22 years old and dont smoke or drink and in general eat healthy so i dont understand why I am having such health issues. If not bronchitis is it possible I have an esophageal ulcer??

Hi.

Your main issue is difficulty in breathing which increases at night not allowing proper sleep, throat pain and dysphagia.
The breathless with low PFT is indicative of obstructive reasons and the commonest cause is allergic bronchial asthma.
Addition of steroid that is Budecort and Asthalin inhaler along with oral bronchodilators like Deriphylline should help you the most.
As for GERD or so continue the PPI, add-on Domperidone to have motility regulation, antacids to be used when you are on empty stomach.
Avoid stress and anxiety as these two increase all your symptoms.
Avoid oily and spicy food.
Sleep in reclining position.
Avoid the allergens by identifying the instigating and enhancing factors.
Consult your Doctors regularly and go for detailed investigations as would be suggested by your Doctors.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
