What Causes Breathing Difficulty After A Heart Valve Replacement Surgery?

Hi Dr. This is probably dumb....I am wondering if this is all in my head....I have dear friend who just had heart valve replacement and is doing fine...another friend is dying of lung cancer...since going to see both I now am having trouble breathing when walking a short distance...however, I was on my EFX machine doing interval training for 40 minutes this morning and lifting in the gym afterwards for an hour...breathing only seems to be a problem when I m walking somewhere....and not all the time...have i freaked myself out?

Hello,

In my opinion, we should definitely rule out heart and lung diseases for your breathing difficulty.

So consult a doctor and get done blood pressure monitoring, ECG, 2d echo and stress test (trade mill test).

Also, get done a chest x-ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to rule out lung diseases.

If all these are normal then no need to worry for major heart and lung diseases.

Since you are going through a lot of stress, this can also cause breathing difficulty.

To avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm. Don't worry, you will be alright but the first rule out heart and lung diseases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
