What Causes Breathing Difficulty After Stopping Predislone?
I am a 78yr old female smoker self medicating on predislone. I weaned off them last Saturday. (I have been on them before but last year. I am having breathine problems again. Can I resume again on 20mgs a day and stay on them to help me breathe. I have emphysema.
In my opinion, rather than self medicating, you should consult a doctor. Oral prednisolone is associated with many side effects and steroid containing inhalers may help you better. There are other medicines as well like ipratropium, salbutamol etc which can reduce the amount of steroids you need and improve your quality of life. By choosing to self medicate, you are denying yourself access to better options.
Best wishes.
