What Causes Breathing Difficulty After Taking Z-pak?

I m concerned as my son (24 yrs of age) has been prescribed z-oak for his infection. He s been very ill, had a fever 2 days ago, sore throat, and said the doctor said ear infection - z-pak. I know the FDA warned about Z-pak in 2013, my brother died three days into a z-oak administration at the age of 57, without being giving an exam in the walk in emergency clinic in North Carolina, complaining of being out of breath. The Dr. saying, Let s say you have bronchitis and gave him z-pak. Personally, I think he should have been given Biaxin. Not everyone is lazy and stops taking meds too soon. YYYY@YYYY

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be an allergic reaction. However we have to rule out other possible causes also. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
