What Causes Breathing Difficulty After Taking A Hot Shower?
Hello. I ve been having trouble breathing during and after taking a hot bath. I have asthma and allergies but these are under control before I take the bath. I have also cleaned the shower curtain to remove any mold. I don t know what s causing me to have shortness of breath, cough and weeze. Please help.
Your shortness of breath is related to your asthma due to a reaction of the airways to inhalation of hot air. Hot air induces inflammation of the airways, leading to their narrowing, which in turn leads to shortness of breath. This can happen after just a few minutes of exposure to hot air in the bathtub.
I would suggest you to avoid baths altogether and go for quick showers instead. An alternative would be to have a bath in a well ventilated bathroom, with open windows.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you good health and all the best.
Regards, Dr. Ornela Ademovi
