What Causes Breathing Difficulty Along With Wheezing?
71 year old man, very good general health, not overweight. Recently been having trouble breathing, especially at night....tightness, wheezing, thready thick mucus. When on 2 week vacation, experienced no symptoms. House has 6 cats....about 8 months old. Lots of oak and cedar pollen everywhere. Mild antihistamine works sometimes but dehydrates me. I just want to differentiate allergies from asthma.....haven t consulted my DR yes....he s busy.

Consult a pulmonologist and get evaluated. Detailed evaluation is needed to make a diagnosis. We have to rule out cardiac and respiratory causes.
An ECHO test and chest X-ray have to be taken for initial evaluation.
