my 90 year old mother needs assistance to walk with a gate belt lately when she is gotten up to walk and starts to walk she starts breathing heavy and gets sick to her stomach then after she is sat back down the symptoms slowly go away in a matter of about 5 to 10 minutes and her breathing returns to normal and the nausea goes away my question is what could be causing it
It can be from gastric acid reflux from stomach on exertion due to contraction of muscles of the diaphragm. It can be also from problems in chest or heart.
Give him medications for acidities like Lansoprazole or Omeprazole. If the symptoms continue then get her checked by a physician for the possibility of heart or any chest disease.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Soheel Hussain Zargar,
