What Causes Breathing Difficulty And Tight Sensation In The Chest?

My son woke up this morning scared and said he felt like he couldn t get a breath. He said his chest felt a little tight. I took him to a clinic and they said he was a little stuffy but other than that nothing else. He says he feels like he has snot in his throat. Would this be something we re he needs to go to ER or what.

Hi,

It can be due to acid reflux disease, ischemia, and anemia, anxiety.

It is better to take him to the emergency room. He may be required for CBC, hemoglobin estimation and ECG.

If he is suffering from acidity in the stomach then he may need to take antiacids for some time.

However, better is to do a complete examination and accordingly prescribe therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
