What Causes Breathing Difficulty And Tightness In The Chest?

This afternoon while making lunch for my son, I started feeling light headed and dizzy then I began to feel like I m short of breath and tightness in my chest. I went and lay down, and I felt a little better, but when I start to make around again the lightheadedness came back and the dizziness. What do you think might cause this to happen. IM not dehydrated because I consume a lot of water when the day comes.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Lightheadedness and dizzy, shortness of breath and chest tightening may have several causes.

l could mention from:
1. Bening paroxaroxysmal positional vertigo.
2. Postural hypotension.
3. Hyperventilation.
4. Viral labyrinthitis or vestibular neuronitis and even vascular vertigo

These may be the most common causes of your problem. But never underestimate any heart condition. I would tell you not to rise immediately from a lying or sitting position. If you feel tired have a rest. If the situation persists don't hesitate to contact us.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suzana Zharri,
