Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In the morning, while still in bed, my sister had difficulty getting a full breath. She had difficulty two days earlier after taking a short walk. She said she had difficulty getting a full deep breath. She has never had this happen before. She is 64. She began taking an antibiotic for an infected cyst on her back on Mon. evening. She doesn t have any other symptoms. What is causing this? Is it A reaction to the antibiotic? She is allergic to penicillin and is taking a different antibiotic.. Or is it some other cause?
If the difficulty in breathing started right after starting antibiotic use, then, could think of possible allergy reaction to this antibiotic. However, to me, should consult further with cardiologist to rule out possible cardiovascular issues. Plus, should rule out possible gastritis or acid reflux precipitated from antibiotic use. Antacids to use in this case. Discuss this with her caring doctor.
Wish you a fast recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
