Question reaction to clonocid 500mg. Breathing difficiculty started approx 30mimutes after taking 1tablet. By 2hrs almost immpossible to draw breath. Had to be helped by 2 people supporting me to car. Emergency out-of-hours doctor restored breathing with multiple salbutamol nebs. Doctors poo-poo idea that this was caused by this drug. General & Family Physician, Dr. Sirisha's Response
Your breathlessness may not be due to clonocid(macrolide antibiotic) itself but to comment on your doubt we need to know what all other medications you are taking and the concomittant diseases you are suffering like diabetes, asthma etc.because some medications (cisapride;pimozide; lovastatin or simvastatin;ergotamine ) will interact with this and cause life threatening symptoms or you might have landed in acute asthma attack in case you are already asthmatic.also we need to know if you are taking this for resperatory infection as the attacks like this occur in resp infections also. Any how you need to discuss the same with your treating dr who will physically examine you and can take decision on changing this antibiotic.you dont forget to tell what all other medicines you are taking.
