What Causes Breathlessness While Treating GERD?

hi im 33 years old i have been told by a doctor i have gerd but it hasnt flered up in a while an a few days ago in did but i do smoke an some times i feel like i cant breath is that caused by m flair up or could it be something else my husband said sounds like i have a sinus infection but i dont feel congested or coughing or nothing like that but all this started a few weeks ago can u help me pleas

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to GERD as chronic GERD can cause signs of upper respiratory or throat Inflammatory changes.

However, upper respiratory tract infection should be ruled out. Using antacids like omeprazole along with motility agents like domperidone can be helpful.

However, antihistamines like cetirizine or loratidine can be helpful. X-ray PNS and ENT specialist review is recommended.
