What Causes Bright Red Menstrual Bleeding After A Prolonged Delay?
Hi my period was absent for about 6 months, I took pregnancy tests and wasn t pregnant. My period returned about 5 weeks ago and I have been bleeding bright red blood since then. It isnt heavy but it is there when I wipe and definitely need a regular tampon. What could this be?
Hello and welcome to HCM, You are suffering from irregular menstrual cycles. irregular menstrual cycles are commonly due to hormonal imbalance. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist for assessment of hormonal profile of the patient which includes LH, FSH and prolactin. Along with these hormones, an endometrial biopsy is also required to know the status of endometrial glands and stroma. These investigations are required to know the probable cause of abnormal menstrual bleeding.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
