What Causes Bright Red Vaginal Bleeding During Menstruation?

I m a 53 Female, and for the last 4-5 weeks i have had a period every day. Not heavy, But, some days it looks like more of the brown blood, like the end of your period. But, then for a day or two its like I just got my period, were its more of a bright red blood. when i wear a pad or tampon, very,very little is there. I only know after going to the bathroom and wiping. I have no cramps, like normal periods that I have had through out the years. any idea what it can be?

Prolonged bleeding can be due to different possible causes, to find the exact cause, you would need to consider seeing your doctor for assessment.

The different possible causes: (1)structural causes such as fibroids, endometriosis, polyps (benign growths of the uterus or cervix)
(2)infection
(3)hormonal causes- abnormal levels of hormones can also cause bleeding

To find the exact cause, your doctor would likely consider an ultrasound and blood tests (to check hormone levels).
There are medications that help to decrease vaginal bleeding such as norethisterone.

Specific treatment would depend on the cause found.
