What Causes Brittle Splitting Nails Despite Using Biotin?
My finger nails have, in the last several months, become very damaged looking. They peel, split and seem to grow very slowly. I have been taking Biotin supplement for this problem but fail to see a result. Does this imply some underlying condition? I have high b/p and PMR, both of which are under treatment.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I have read your description and understand your concern. The problem of brittle and splitting nails could be symptom of nutritional or iron deficiency anaemia. Kindly take iron supplements along with biotin to overcome this problem. You need to take supplements containing iron, folic acid and Vitamin B12 in the form of syrup or capsules. Consume iron rich foods like dark green leafy vegetables, dates and jaggery. Gradually, you should feel better. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
