Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just urinated a brown urine. Assuming that means there is blood in it? I was in softball tourney today and drank over a gallon of water, 1 Gatorade, and 1 beer. That was the first time ive urinated all day. Not sure if its related but I started another cholesterol medicine about 6 months ago and it seemed to make my urine hotter. Urine has been getting darker since then but never that dark.
See there can be various reasons for dark coloured urine. Most common of course is dehydration(when intake of fluids is less).
However it can also be due to liver related disorders (infections of liver), kidney disorders, urinary tract infections, rhabdomyolysis(breaking of muscle) or some times blood related disorders.
Even some medicines or food (beetroot, berries etc) can cause dark coloured urine.
Cholesterol medicine if causing some liver or muscle damage can inturn make urine dark.
So I feel that make sure you drink plenty of water 2-3 liters per day.If still the symptoms persist then do go for some investigations like complete blood count , urine test, creatinine and ultrasound abdomen.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Milinda Gupta
