What Causes Brown Discharge 2 Weeks After Menstrual Cycle While Sexually Active?
Hi doctor i am having brown discharge 2 weeks after my last period. I am sexually active but we used condoms and birth control(last time activity 3 weeks ago i visited him in Macedonia). I have stop taking the pill 4 days ago and i was wondering is it because of that or is it something else?
** Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern
1. since you have been sexually active and also used barrier method, still exclude possibilities of brown discharge [which occur after period] like:
. Do a UPT [urine pregnancy test] to exclude pregnancy/miscarriage [implantation bleeding] . It could be old blood from previous cycle . If discharge is odorless, it is normal, but if foul smelling then check with a Gynecologist who will perform a vaginal swab and polymerase chain reaction [PCR] tests taken to check for the presence of chlamydia, mycoplasma, herpes and cytomegalovirus [CMV] infection.
. treatment will be based upon the pathological factor thus professional medical consultation and testing is necessary.
